Post Post Posting

After you post an item, there are a few things you want to do in order to get your post indexed as soon as possible in the major blog search engines (technorati and blogsearch).
Some of these things are done automatically and some can only be done by yourself. Although I have all the auto ping/publish options turned on I still had to do some manual work to make it happen.
This is true to both blogs hosted on personal sites and to public blogging platforms.
The list:
- Technorati: If you’re in a real rush, go to bottom of technorati’s homepage and click on “Ping Us”. It should be here. Enter your post URL there.
- Blogsearch: AFAIK, Google’s blogsearch does’t have a manual ping option. In fact blogsearch may not find posts for a very long time (see kremshnitzel). In order to make sure it gets indexed and ASAP, have a backlink to it from another blog post (not web page) often visited by this engine.
- Getting the post in Google (and the other 2): Do both: a/ Backlink from a web page or blog frequently visited by the engine. b/ Tag the post with as many relevant tags you can, cause then technorati will put your post in its tag-directory and tag-feeds and the search engines will find you quickly.
- Use social bookmarking like has been widely talked about before.
